Going back to yesterday, if you will remember Aslan made his fellow lion happy by saying "us lions" and in effect he was placing himself on the same level of those around him even though he was more special. The Bishop will also speak to Jesus and his sacrifice for our sins in relation to being called the Lamb of God as well as the revelation of the Trinity at his Baptism (something that should be familiar from our discussions).
Reading: Zoom meeting Period 6. For today's class we find ourselves at the end of the famous work of C. S. Lewis. We will read Chapter 17 today together and find out the fate of the children. Religion: The original plan was to cover the chapter review that you all started last Thursday. However, since you do not have any books for your classes we are going to turn our attention to different subject matter. With Ash Wednesday happening tomorrow, it is fitting that we have a discussion on the importance of that day in our liturgical year. You do not need anything for this class besides your notebook. You will be asked questions during this period and will be expected to reflect and write.
Reading: For today's class, as stated last week, you will be answering questions concerning the three chapters that we read in Number the Stars. The questions are below and you will have all of class to complete them. Those on Zoom will have no issues completing the material but what about those who have their book at the school I hear you ask. The solution to this issue is a PDF has been attached below. It is the book in its entirety and you are not expected to print out anything from it. Please do not waste any paper. You will be expected to use it if you need to reference the book when answering the questions. (Questions will be posted prior to class).
Chapter 9:
#1: What is Uncle Henrik's reason for lying? Do you agree with his position? Are there any times when you think that may not be true?
#2: In what way does Annemarie protect Ellen?
#3: Why does Annemarie conclude that the people can not talk to one another at the wake?
Chapter 10:
#1: Annemarie describes feeling as if she has been placed in a reoccurring nightmare. Explain the situation that causes her to feel this way. What does it remind her of?
#2: Why would it be difficult for Annemarie to answer the soldier's question? Think back to what Uncle Henrik told her in the previous chapter.
#3: How do the soldiers almost find out that there is no Aunt Birte? How does Mama stop them?
#4: Peter starts reading Psalms after the soldiers leave. Explain why he may want to do this.
Chapter 11:
#1: What is the purpose of Aunt Birte's funeral? Be sure to use evidence from the text to explain.
#2: Peter gives the baby some liquid, even thought the mother disagrees. What do you think the substance did and why would Peter give it to the child?
