Monday January 4th, 2021: Zoom will be today Period 4. Welcome to the first day of online learning for the next two weeks! Since we finished our unit on Westward Expansion and Manifest Destiny before the break we will now begin a new unit. This unit will correspond with pages 374-393 and 403-407. I am attaching these pages as a PDF file below in case you do not have your book. This is required reading, feel free to spread it out as you see fit.
Today, be prepared to take notes and listen to historical background information. I am attaching the PowerPoint that we will use. My recommendation is to take notes in addition to what may be on the slides.
(Depending on what is easier for you, I have attached the PowerPoint as a Keynote Presentation, PowerPoint, and PDF file.)

Thursday January 14th, 2021: Zoom will be today Period 7. For today's class you will be required to start a short essay (you will have both this class period and tomorrow's to finish this work).
Prompt: Evaluate the methods used by the Underground Railroad shown in Documents 6, 8 and 10.
Layout: Your first paragraph is your opening to what you will be talking about. Here, the reader should be provide with two items: background information and your thesis statement. The background information should include what the Underground Railroad was and its purpose. The final sentence of the opening paragraph should be your thesis statement. This is the chance for you to make a claim about these methods. Are you in support of them? Did they have faults to them? Why? Sum this up in a single sentence. (Please remember, never reference yourself. I know it is your opinion and you are the one who wrote the piece).
The following three body paragraphs will consist of you discussing each document in turn (One document per paragraph). There should be some explanation of the Document (If there is a picture it should be described either what it looks like or what it was used for). Then you should connect it back to your thesis. How does it support the idea that these methods were either good or poor in their design?
Your final paragraph is your conclusion, here you will restate the points of your main paragraphs and you will restate your thesis once more.
